A little alone time...

Joshua is at grandma and grandpa Stricklands for a few hours tonight, hopefully getting super tired so he is ready for bed when he gets home. When Ryan works 2nd shift, and I don't have a vehicle the days seem like they are never-ending. And poor Joshua gets so bored here with just me and Samuel to keep him company. It's always nice to have family to play with and it always helps him sleep better if he's been busy all day.

So this evening its just me, Sam and deuce laying around being lazy! Thankfully this is Ryans last 2-10 for a while and we will have our family evenings back :-)

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday!

So here I am.

Here I am. At 9:45 on a Friday night. Really wishing I could be in bed like my two young sons are, but instead I am sitting on the computer waiting for my chicken to cook. You see, I took chicken out the other day for dinner but it never got used. We are to that "now or never" point, and I just can't bring myself to throw away a whole bag of chicken. Not exactly how I pictured my Friday nights when I was younger, but hey, life's good PERFECT.

But, on a more exciting note, we are supposed to hit 70 degrees tomorrow! How pathetic is it that we are excited for 70 degrees in the middle of June? Ridiculous! How do you explain to your 1 1/2 year old that it is too cold to go outside and play? When just 2 days ago, it was 102 degrees and he was having the time of his life swimming and running through the sprinklers. Ridiculous! But hopefully that weather will be back soon and we will have more times like this:

And less times like this:

We are ready for the warm to stay!! No more pants and sweatshirts would be wonderful :) Hopefully the weather warms up and stays that way. And hopefully my chicken finishes SOOOOON so I can go to sleep ♥

Life.

Life is exhausting me lately! I go to bed way to late, wake up way to early and change WAY to many diapers in between. Remember back in this post when I mentioned Joshua was having a hard time adjusting to Samuel, and was being very whiny? Well that hasn't changed yet. It has been 3 weeks since Sam was born, and Joshua is just as whiny and cranky today as he was the day we brought the baby home. I am gonna blame this on the terrible two's now. I know he is only 18 months, but seriously, what else could be going on? He is EXHAUSTING me lately.

So what's new around here? I have about a billion mosquito bites on my FEET, that's whats new. Probably the most annoying place to have a single mosquito bite, let alone 23. Yes I counted. Don't judge me.

Tell me you wouldn't count those bad boys.

I just realized it is almost 5:00 and Joshua is still sleeping... oh goodness it could be a long night! Mr. Samuel is sitting next to me in his rocker being a fuss-butt wanting to eat AGAIN, I am trying to spread his feedings out a little, he is wanting to eat every hour! And for a little boy who has gained a pound a week almost since he was born (yes my little chunk is 11 lbs 10 oz), hourly feedings are NOT necessary. But goodness he is cute isn't he? and it is hard to listen to this little cutie patootie be unhappy.

Last night was my brother in laws 18th birthday (well technically all day was I guess, but we celebrated last night). We went to my in-laws and had ice cream cake! (DELICIOUS)

Joshua has pretty much perfected using a spoon, and loved showing off his amazing eating-with-silverware ability.

Happy 18th birthday Tyler!

I should probably go feed this cute little baby fussing next to me :) I hope everyone is having a great week! Love Love ♥

I need a vacation...

Whew. I am exhausted! We spent the weekend driving. Literally I feel like that's all we did (okay maybe I am exaggerating) ! We went to Hammond, Indiana for a wedding. We left early Friday morning and got back Sunday evening. Let me tell you, when you go on "vacation" with a 1 year old who is still adjusting to being a big brother, and a newborn who decides this vacation is the very best time to develop a horrible, horrible case of colic, you come home from said "vacation" needing a VACATION!

Now don't get me wrong, we had our moments where both boys were happy and we had fun. But honestly, I feel like 99% of the time, this was happening:

but of course we had some fun, we stopped and had a picnic in a park on the way down

Joshua had fun playing on the chair at the hotel, who said you need to leave the hotel to have fun on vacation?

We swam in the hotel pool

Oh, and of course, we went to a wedding :)

We drove by Chicago on the way home, didn't stop because we had two cranky boys and traffic was HORRIBLE in downtown Chicago.

On Saturday night we stopped in Wisconsin at a super cool hotel with a very FUN pool

As I just looked the my pictures, it turns out we did have a lot of fun. Sure it was stressful, but EVERYTHING is stressful when you have a toddler and a newborn along :) Oh and I realized there is only ONE picture of me from the whole weekend, and I am in my swimsuit so you don't get to see it! Time to give the camera to Ryan more often I guess. I hope everyone had a fun RELAXING weekend! Love Love ♥

Not so blogworthy

Lately I feel like NOTHING is happening in my life that is worthy of blogging about. How could that be?! I have a one year old and a newborn baby, something exciting has to happen once in a while right? Well I guess if you count things like getting peed on, or sitting on the patio chalking for hours exciting, then yeah exciting stuff happens around here all of the time. I guess I don't feel like many people want to read about stuff like that.

Here is what IS exciting!

This handsome little boy
IMAG0327.jpg

was 2 weeks old yesterday! I can't believe it has already been 2 weeks since he joined our family.

Samuel James you are a wonderful baby! Here are a few things about YOU at 2 weeks old:

You sleep through the night WONDERFULLY (5-6 Hrs at a time)

You sleep through the day too.

You LOVE to be swaddled.

You don't enjoy the swing as much as I wish you would.

Your fingers and toes are SO long and skinny!

You are in NB diapers still.

You are in 0-3 month clothes because all of the newborns aren't long enough for your long legs. But your drown in your clothes because you are SO SKINNY.

Your big brother loves you so much, he tries to feed you lunch and share his drinks with you :)

You are LOVED by so many people!!

You are incredibly gassy.

You like to sit up for about 15-20 minutes after you eat so you can burp 50 times :)

I hope everyone is having a great Wednesday Love love ♥
